County Oak

Environmental Policy

Our commitment to the environment:

County Oak recognises the impact of our operations on the environment and aim to be an increasingly efficient. We strive to minimise any detrimental effects as a result of our operations.

We specialise in using timbers selected for their qualities of durability, strength and performance. This gives our products their timeless and classic appeal. Building in timber carries important environmental responsibilities and when properly managed is far preferable to the use of aluminium or petrochemical-based plastics.

We chose suppliers who also have sound environmental policies and whose oak comes from sustainable and well-managed forests. Where possible we use air dried oak where the timbers have been seasoned naturally for a number of years.

We are committed to green policies and the implementation of proactive measures to help protect and sustain the environment for future generations. Some examples of how we achieve this are detailed below:

Using in-house developed software, cutting edge hardwood machining technology and our experience of working with timber for over two decades, we have optimised the utilisation of timber sections reducing the amount of offcuts and rejects and therefore the amount of waste generated by the joinery process.

Recycling is also a key part of our waste management policy. It is important to recycle as it takes considerably less energy to recycle an existing product than to source or make one from new. Just some examples of this policy are our timber shavings and offcuts are used to generate heat for our paint plant and factory. Wherever possible we recycle product packaging, waste paper and printer and toner cartridges. In addition, this website is powered by "Green Hosting" by 1&1 that uses wind, water and solar power in accordance with the Renewable Energy Certification System (RECS).

We look to conserve natural resources through the responsible use of energy, water and materials including reducing carbon emissions by the use of logistics for our delivery and customer facing fleet.

We can all contribute to making a cleaner and safer environment and ensure environmental issues remain a focal point and receive proper attention.

County Oak complies with relevant environmental legislation and takes a proactive approach to any future requirements and obligations.
